The Siam Society Under Patronage

"The Siam Society Under the Royal Patronage of H.M. The King was established in 1904 at the end of the reign of King Chulalongkorn. Its aim is to promote the study of liberal arts and science concerning Thailand and neighboring countries during all these years, the Society has come under the royal patronage of Thai monarchs. Respectable people in different fields -- arts, science and liberal arts, have been selected to serve in different positions in the Society.

The Siam Society Under the Royal Patronage is a public organization that cooperates with the government and private sectors in promoting the study of and the dissemination of research and conservation. It has established a library and a museum to encourage the study and research as well as the display of works according to the Society's main objective. It also serves a non-profit center of knowledge for the general public.

Now, H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the Society's Royal Patron. H.M. Queen Sirikit, H.R.H. the Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, H.R.H. Princess Gulayani Watthana, the Princess of Narathiwat, serve as the Society's vice-patrons."

A cafe is located adjacent to the house in front and looks like a good place to relax and cool off though we haven't stopped in.

Information about the Society is in the link above but the main public attraction here is the museum which is currently closed for renovation with no posted reopening date. If you're walking past, it's definitely worth taking a peek through the fence at the beautiful traditional houses.
