Taksin Bridge

"This bridge was the sixth bridge built across Chao Phraya river to link Sathon Road and Krung Thon Buri Road, another name of the bridge is Sathon Bridge. King Bhumibol presided over the opening ceremony of the bridge on May 6, 1982. Before the construction of the bridge, Chao Phraya river was crowded with cargo and passenger ships passing up river to the port in the north of Bangkok. After completion of the bridge the port was moved to the south at Khlong Toei Port."

Stairs from the pedestrian walkway on the Thonburi side let you down into the lovely Chaloem Phrakiat Forest Park. On the Sathon side, the stairs bring you to the tourist boat pier and a few meters from BTS Saphan Taksin.

A modern-looking bridge that's heavily travelled with several lanes for cars but, interestingly, only one BTS track. There are pedestrian walkways on each side that provide good views of the river activity.
